Aims of the course

The programme will; provide embryologists with a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of embryo biopsy. As well as lectures, the course will include hands on practicals and demonstrations of cleavage stage and blastocyst biopsy of mouse embryos. During the two days, delegates will not become competent at these techniques but will have enough hands on to go away and practice in their own laboratory setting. The workshop will also allow scientists to discuss the technology with their peers and with experts in the field. Delegates will be given copies of the powerpoint presentations and a detailed workshop manual. All delegates are welcome to have follow-up discussions with the Embryology and PGD Academy. This workshop will be limited to 20 delegates.

General Information

Accommodation

There are three hotels that are close to UCL that we recommend – all have en- suite. You have to book these hotels yourself. There are several web sites that report cheaper rates for London hotels but also check with the hotel web site as the rates are often the same.

  • Premier Inn Euston,1 Dukes Road, London, WC1H 9PJ,
    Phone - (+44) 871 527 8656. Google Premier Inn Euston.
    (Or)
Ibis Hotel Euston, 3 Cardington Street, NW1 2LW, London,
    Phone - (+44) 207 3887777. Google Ibis Hotel Euston.
  • Tavistock Hotel, Tavistock Sqare, London, WC1H 9EU,
    Website - www.imperialhotels.co.uk/tavistock.
This is a very basic hotel but is close to UCL.

Getting to your hotel

All London Airports are quite far from central London. You can take a taxi but it will be very expensive. I would recommend that from Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton or Stansted you take the Airport Express trains that bring you right into central London (you can google information about these trains). These trains come into main stations that are linked to the London Underground (you can download a map from the internet). You can also use google maps and streetfinder to find the location of your hotel and UCL. If you come by train into Euston you will be very close to UCL and can walk if your hotel is near UCL.
If you need any further help finding your hotel, it would be best to ask them directly. If you get stuck - contact Joyce.

Location

The lectures will take place in UCL (exact room to be confirmed) and the hands on in the Theobalds Seminar room, Institute for Women's Health, University College London, 86-96 Chenies Mews, London, WC1. Email and internet facilities will be available in the Department.
If you need to be contacted during the workshop,
Telephone - 0207 679 6072,
Fax - 0207 383 7429 and
